A: As Chief Development Officer, I supervise the overall development process from site selection and acquisition to securing land use and entitlement approvals and permits, as well as overseeing construction. Each step is critical to ensuring that every Timbers property meets the brand’s high standards and delivers an exceptional experience for our Owners.

A: Timbers properties are developed in the world’s most prestigious locations. Site selection involves very careful consideration of environment, buildability, and destination exclusivity to ensure we deliver those one-of-a-kind experiences for our Owners. Each new site must offer a unique, luxurious experience and enduring value.

Q: From initial concept to completion, what are the key stages in Timbers’ development process?

A: The first stage is Project Due Diligence. We begin with a comprehensive review of the site, evaluating factors such as feasibility and financial projections. Identifying risks and mitigation strategies is key. The second stage is Project Design. At Timbers, we do not compromise our design standards to ensure we deliver the luxury experience and craftsmanship that Owners expect. Our architects and interior designers work closely with executive leadership to create a destination that is both breathtaking and functional. Stage three is Project Construction. We collaborate with world-class contractors and bring them into the process early, ensuring the highest quality of materials and fixture selections. Many of our materials are sourced globally, ensuring a truly world-class product. The final stage is Owner Welcome. When their respective residence is complete and turnover occurs, we relish in their excitement for effortless vacation home ownership and creating lasting family memories for generations to come.

A: The first that comes to mind is health and wellness. Luxury properties are integrating hydrothermal elements like cold plunges, steam rooms, and saunas, while also designing wellness spaces that embrace the natural surroundings and cultural traditions of the area. At Hōkūala Kaua‘i, for example, we maintain a 30-acre organic farm that provides fresh produce to our signature restaurant, Hualani’s, and for our Owners to enjoy in their residences. Exceptional culinary experiences are also at the forefront. At Casali di Casole in Tuscany, we have introduced chef-driven dining experiences and interactive culinary spaces, which have been incredibly popular with Owners. Perhaps what most sets Timbers apart is developing with multigenerational families in mind. Families are increasingly interested in vacationing together, with grandparents, parents, and grandchildren under one roof.
